Investigations into Lameness

Many of the patients that we see have not had a formal diagnosis of their mobility problem. Treatments may have been tried, which may have been ineffective or only effective for a short period, with lameness returning when the treatment was withdrawn, or when exercise levels were increased. We are very used to assessing animals where the cause of lameness has not yet been identified.

We provide a thorough assessment

Our assessment is thorough and will include taking a detailed history from you about your pet’s general health and the specifics surrounding their mobility.

We will assess their gait whilst walking outside and examine them carefully. We will also review any videos that you have taken of your pet when at home, since lameness can be more apparent when they are in their own environment. If your own vet has already performed further investigations, then the results of these will be reviewed too.

Investigation into lameness

Diagnosis and treatment of lameness

Together, these findings may allow us to reach a diagnosis, and if so, we will be able to discuss treatment options with you.

If further investigations are required, then these will be discussed with you, costs estimated, and if desired, arrangements for these tests organised.

Rest assured that we are committed to finding the cause of your pet’s problem and finding a fast and effective way of returning them to good mobility.

If you have any questions about this treatment, then please get in touch.
